CECC confirms 15,412 more COVID-19 cases, including 15,206 domestic cases and 206 imported cases

On August 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 15,412 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 15,412 new cases, 15,206 are domestic and 206 are imported. The CECC announced 26 deaths today.

Regarding the 15,206 new domestic cases, 7,098 are male and 8,094 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,847 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,850 in Taichung City, 1,693 in Taoyuan City, 1,500 in Taipei City, 1,422 in Kaohsiung City, 1,147 in Tainan City, 705 in Changhua County, 495 in Hsinchu County, 457 in Miaoli County, 417 in Yunlin County, 396 in Pingtung County, 327 in Hsinchu City, 289 in Yilan County, 288 in Hualien County, 284 in Nantou County, 282 in Chiayi County, 260 in Keelung City, 157 in Chiayi City, 151 in Taitung County, 132 in Kinmen County, 104 in Penghu County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 26 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 12 men and 14 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 206 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 9 and August 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,156,105 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,394,918. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,754,268 cases. Of the 4,754,268 confirmed cases, 21,960 are imported; 4,732,254 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,255 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,255 deaths, 9,240 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
