CECC confirms 24,325 more COVID-19 cases, including 24,196 domestic cases and 129 imported cases

On July 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24,325 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 24,325 new cases, 24,196 are domestic and 129 are imported. The CECC announced 73 deaths today.

Regarding the 24,196 new domestic cases, 11,103 are male and 13,088 are female, while the gender of the other five cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,112 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,065 in Taichung City, 2,607 in Taoyuan City, 2,538 in Kaohsiung City, 2,401 in Taipei City, 1,779 in Tainan City, 1,193 in Changhua County, 771 in Pingtung County, 654 in Miaoli County, 648 in Yilan County, 634 in Hsinchu County, 627 in Yunlin County, 604 in Hsinchu City, 425 in Nantou County, 415 in Hualien County, 393 in Chiayi County, 385 in Keelung City, 295 in Taitung County, 244 in Kinmen County, 235 in Chiayi City, 142 in Penghu County, and 29 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 73 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 41 men and 32 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 129 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 15 and 16, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,227,914 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,959,301. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,264,788 cases. Of the 4,264,788 confirmed cases, 16,319 are imported; 4,248,415 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 8,176 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 8,176 deaths, 8,161 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
