On December 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those cases, one is domestic and the other 23 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the one new domestic case, Case #17026 is an over 30-year-old Taiwanese male. The man wasn't vaccinated against COVID-19. He was tested at a hospital on December 25 as he had to accompany a patient. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 26 (the CT value was 34.1. He tested negative after taking another PCR test). He tested negative for IgM and positive for IgG antibodies; the case has been determined to be a case of old infection.

Regarding the 23 new imported cases, they are 13 men and 10 women, aged between 10 to 79 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (10 cases), Kazakhstan (11 cases), Cameroon, and South Africa. They arrived between December 19 and December 24.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,873,578 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,853,506. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,915 cases. Of the 16,915 confirmed cases, 2,261 are imported; 14,600 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
