CECC confirms 275 more COVID-19 cases, including 133 domestic cases and 142 imported cases

On April 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 275 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 275 new cases, 133 are domestic and 142 are imported (68 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 133 new domestic cases, they are 64 men and 68 women ranging in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 27 and April 4, while 50 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 46 were reported in New Taipei City, 31 in Keelung City, 23 in Taipei City, 15 in Taoyuan City, six in Yilan County, four in Hsinchu County, three in Hualien County, two in Hsinchu City, and one each in Taichung City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County.

Regarding the 142 new imported cases, 78 are male and 63 are female while the gender of the other one case is being investigated. They are between the ages of under five and 79. Of the cases, 18 arrived from Vietnam, 14 from Indonesia, six from the US, four in China, three each in Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia, two each from France, Cambodia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and one each from the Philippines, Germany, Ireland, Japan, India, and Korea; the areas the remaining 77 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 7 and April 3, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,119,738 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,094,874. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 24,585 cases. Of the 24,585 confirmed cases, 8,084 are imported; 16,447 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 139 cases (two domestic cases were removed due to negative results) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
