CECC confirms 3,859 more COVID-19 cases, including 3,766 domestic cases and 93 imported cases


On April 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 3,859 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 3,859 new cases, 3,766 are domestic and 93 are imported (83 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 3,766 new domestic cases, 1,855 are male and 1,910 are female while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 30 and April 22, while 2,077 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 1,325 were reported in New Taipei City, 739 in Taipei City, 588 in Taoyuan City, 275 in Keelung City, 183 in Taichung City, 117 in Kaohsiung City, 100 in Hualien County, 80 in Yilan County, 71 in Tainan City, 57 in Changhua County, 50 in Yunlin County, 48 in Hsinchu City, 42 in Taitung County, 23 each in Hsinchu City and Miaoli County, 22 in Pingtung County, 10 in Nantou County, five in Kinmen County, four in Chiayi County, two in Chiayi City, and one each in Penghu County and Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 93 new imported cases, 47 are male and 45 are female, while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, three arrived from Vietnam, two each from Malaysia and Indonesia, and one each from the Philippines and Singapore; the areas the remaining 84 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 18 and April 21, 2022.

Additionally, domestic cases #41432 and 43353-43369 announced on April 21 have been reclassified as imported cases after epidemiological investigations found case#41432 had arrived from Vietnam on April 16 and the other cases arrived from the country on April 30.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,951,754 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,903,776. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 47,100 cases. Of the 47,100 confirmed cases, 10,187 are imported; 36,859 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 206 cases (two newly added; the domestic cases were removed after epidemiological investigations found they tested negative) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 856 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 856 deaths, 842 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
