On March 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 62 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 62 new cases, one is domestic and 61 are imported (36 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the one domestic case, the case is an over 20-year-old female living in northern Taiwan. She was identified as a contact of Case #21295.

Regarding the 61 new imported cases, they are 37 men and 24 women, aged between under five and 79 years. Of the cases, six each arrived from Vietnam and Canada, five from Thailand, four from Sri Lanka, three from Hong Kong, two each from Australia, Brazil, and the US, and one from Panama, Japan, Mongolia, Indonesia, Nicaragua, India, Singapore, Mexico, and the UK; the areas the remaining 22 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 20 and March 11, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,565,307 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,543,605. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 21,225 cases. Of the 21,225 confirmed cases, 5,688 are imported; 15,483 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
