CECC confirms 575 more COVID-19 cases, including 431 domestic cases and 144 imported cases


On April 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 575 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 575 new cases, 431 are domestic and 144 are imported (83 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 431 new domestic cases, 209 are male and 219 are female while the gender of the other three cases is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 89 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 30 and April 10, while 237 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 143 were reported in New Taipei City, 67 in Taipei City, 45 in Taoyuan City, 31 in Pingtung County, 28 in Keelung City, 26 in Kaohsiung City, 20 in Tainan City, 14 in Yilan County, 13 each in Hsinchu County and Hualien County, eight in Taichung City, seven in Hsinchu City, six in Chiayi City, three in Yunlin County, two each in Miaoli County, Nantou County, Chiayi County, and one in Taitung County.

Regarding the 144 new imported cases, 83 are male and 59 are female while the gender of the other two is being investigated. They range in age between under five and 69 years old. Of the cases, 31 arrived from Vietnam, nine from Singapore, seven from Indonesia, four from Malaysia, three from Thailand, two each from Switzerland, the US, the UK, Australia and Hong Kong, and one each from South Africa, Malawi, the Philippines, the UAE, Maldives, France and China; the areas the remaining 73 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 4 and April 9, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,361,864 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,334,278. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 27,410 cases. Of the 27,410 confirmed cases, 8,777 are imported; 18,579 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 145 cases (one newly added; one domestic case was removed due to subsequent negative test results) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 854 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 854 deaths, 840 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
