CECC confirms 1284 more COVID-19 cases, including 1209 domestic cases and 75 imported cases

On April 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 1284 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 1284 new cases, 1209 are domestic and 75 are imported (68 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the 1209 new domestic cases, 548 are male and 660 are female while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 30 and April 15, while 710 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 328 were reported in New Taipei City, 290 in Taoyuan City, 146 in Hualien County, 140 in Taipei City, 58 in Kaohsiung City, 48 in Keelung City, 40 in Yilan County, 33 in Taichung City, 22 each in in Tainan City and Taitung County, 21 in Pingtung County, 18 Hsinchu City, 16 in Miaoli County, 15 in Hsinchu County, three each in Chiayi County, Yunlin County, and Changhua County, two in Chiayi City, and one in Nantou County.

Regarding the 75 new imported cases, 43 are male and 31 are female, while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. Of the cases, 12 arrived from Vietnam, 2 from Australia, and one each from Indonesia, Germany, the UK, France, Japan and Hong Kong; the areas the remaining 55 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 26 and April 14, 2022.

Additionally, imported case #30070 announced on April 14 has been reclassified as a domestic case according to an epidemiological investigation.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,591,631 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,559,513. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 31,857 cases. Of the 31,857 confirmed cases, 9,448 are imported; 22,355 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 190 cases (one newly added, removed due to duplicate records) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 854 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 854 deaths, 840 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
