CECC confirms 531 more COVID-19 cases, including 382 domestic cases and 149 imported cases

On April 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 531 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 531 new cases, 382 are domestic and 149 are imported (78 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 382 new domestic cases, they are 188 men and 194 women ranging in age from under five to 89 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 29 and April 7, while 165 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 111 were reported in New Taipei City, 87 in Taipei City, 59 in Kaohsiung City, 41 in Keelung City, 28 in Taoyuan City, 16 in Hualien County, eight in Chiayi County, seven in Hsinchu County, five each in Tainan City and Pingtung County, four in Taichung City, three in Hsinchu City, two each in Kinmen County, Yilan County and Yunlin County, and one each in Changhua County and Miaoli County.

Regarding the 149 new imported cases, they are 82 men and 67 women ranging in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, 17 arrived in Taiwan from Vietnam, six from the US, five form Indonesia, three from Germany, two each from Singapore, France, Switzerland, the UK and Australia, and one each from Italy, Spain, Korea, China, and Thailand; the areas the remaining 103 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 7 and April 6, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,223,935 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,197,836. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 25,756 cases. Of the 25,756 confirmed cases, 8,375 are imported; 17,327 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 139 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
