CECC confirms 21,289 more COVID-19 cases, including 21,056 domestic cases and 233 imported cases


On August 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 21,289 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 21,289 new cases, 21,056 are domestic and 233 are imported. The CECC announced 40 deaths today.

Regarding the 21,056 new domestic cases, 9,658 are male and 11,388 are female, while the gender of the other 10 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,082 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,534 in Taichung City, 2,439 in Taipei City, 2,327 in Taoyuan City, 1,744 in Kaohsiung City, 1,507 in Tainan City, 951 in Changhua County, 661 in Hsinchu County, 618 in Miaoli County, 518 in Hsinchu City, 494 in Yunlin County, 491 in Pingtung County, 452 in Yilan County, 393 in Chiayi County, 360 in Nantou County, 342 in Keelung City, 311 in Hualien County, 251 in Penghu County, 232 in Taitung County, 226 in Chiayi City, 108 in Kinmen County, and 16 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 40 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 27 men and 13 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 233 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 13 and August 12, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,374,706 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,499,540. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,867,766 cases. Of the 4,867,766 confirmed cases, 23,029 are imported; 4,844,683 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,413 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,413 deaths, 9,398 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
