On July 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 80 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 80 new cases, 76 are indigenous and the other four are imported. The CECC also announced 10 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 76 indigenous cases, 31 are men and the other 45 are women, aged between under 5 to 79 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between June 22 and July 2, 2021. Regarding those indigenous cases, Taipei City reported most cases, at 48, and New Taipei City had the second highest number, at 24. Taoyuan City reported 3 cases, and Hsinchu City reported 1 case.

Regarding the 10 deaths announced today, they were five men and five women between 50 and 99 years old.

Regarding the four new imported cases, Case #15059 is a Taiwanese male in his teens. He returned to Taiwan from the UK on June 30. He developed a fever, a headache and other symptoms on July 1. The health authority then arranged for him to be tested. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 3.

Case #15063 is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. He returned to Taiwan from Japan on June 18. Case #15079 is a Taiwanese woman in her 60s who returned to Taiwan from the US on June 18. They were tested for COVID-19 on July 2, before the end of their quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on July 3.

Case #15094 is a Taiwanese man in his 50s. He returned to Taiwan from Cambodia on June 25. He was tested for COVID-19 on July 2, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 3.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,437,283 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,420,997. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 14,991 cases. Of the 14,991 confirmed cases, 1,180 are imported; 13,758 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 103 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 686 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 686 deaths, 678 are indigenous cases and the other 8 are imported.
