CECC confirms 11 more imported COVID-19 cases

On December 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 11 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 11 new imported cases, they are seven men and four women, aged between 10 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Italy, the US (five cases), Germany, France, Brazil, Vietnam, the Philippines. They arrived between December 5 and December 19.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,774,769 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,756,108. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,816 cases. Of the 16,816 confirmed cases, 2,163 are imported; 14,599 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
