CECC confirms 404 more COVID-19 cases, including 160 domestic cases and 244 imported cases

On April 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 404 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 404 new cases, 160 are domestic and 244 are imported (186 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 160 new domestic cases, they are 83 men and 77 women ranging in age from under five to 79 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 15 and April 1, while 83 of them didn't develop symptoms.

Of those domestic cases, 52 were reported in New Taipei City, 37 in Keelung City, 22 in Taoyuan City, 18 in Taipei City, nine in Kaohsiung City, six in Yilan County, five in Hualien County, three in Changhua County, two each in Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City, and one each in Kinmen County, Taitung County, Taichung City, and Pingtung County.

Regarding the 244 new imported cases, they are 105 men and 74 women between the ages of under five and 99. Of the cases, 23 arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines, 15 from Vietnam, 10 from Indonesia, six from Korea, five each from the US and Japan, four from Thailand, two from Malaysia, and one each from the UAE, Portugal, China, Hong Kong, Germany, Hungary, Mauritius, Canada, Norway, the UK, India, Switzerland, and Poland; the areas the remaining 161 cases arrived from are being investigated. They arrived between February 27 and April 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,070,119 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,045,581. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 24,033 cases. Of the 24,033 confirmed cases, 7,846 are imported; 16,133 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 136 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
