On September 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the five new cases, two are domestic and the other three are imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

Regarding the two domestic cases, Case #16199 is an over 50-year-old female. She was given a COVID-19 test on September 11 as her family member living together (Case #16197) was tested positive for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 13. Case #16203 is an over 60-year-old female. She was given a COVID-19 test because her relative (Case #16179) was diagnosed with COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 13.

Regarding the three new imported cases, they are two men and one woman in their 20s. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (two cases) and Japan. They arrived between August 29 and September 10.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,005,313 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,988,645. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,093 cases. Of the 16,093 confirmed cases, 1,471 are imported; 14,568 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 839 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 839 deaths, 829 are from domestic cases and the other 10 are from imported cases.
