On June 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17 new imported cases of the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 that were detected and intercepted at the border. These cases arrived in Taiwan between June 5 and 12, 2022. All three cases of BA.4 were from the US. Of the cases of BA.5, four were from the US, two each from Germany, France, and Thailand, and one each from Turkey, Spain, Malaysia, and Switzerland.
