CECC confirms 29 more COVID-19 cases, including 27 domestic cases and 2 imported cases

On July 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 29 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 29 new cases, 27 are domestic and the other 2 are imported. The CECC also announced 17 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 27 domestic cases, 17 are men and the other 10 are women, aged between under 5 to 79 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between June 10 and July 5, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, Taipei City reported most cases, at 14, and New Taipei City had the second highest number, at 11. Pingtung County and Changhua County reported 1 case each.

Regarding the 17 deaths announced today, they were 14 men and three women between 40 and 99 years old.

Regarding the two new imported cases, Case #15180 is a Taiwanese male in his teens. He arrived in Taiwan from the US on July 4. He began to experience an abnormal sense of smell on July 5. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 6.

Case #15185 is a Taiwanese man in his 30s. He arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia on June 30. He developed a fever, muscle pain, and a runny nose on July 4, and the health authority arranged for him to be tested on July 5. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 6.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,503,584 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,487,019. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,088 cases. Of the 15,088 confirmed cases, 1,189 are imported; 13,846 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 105 (including two newly added) cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 706 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 706 deaths, 698 are domestic cases and the other 8 are imported.
