On January 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those two new cases arrived in Taiwan from the United Kingdom and the United States.
Case #883 is a British male in his teens. The British male was diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 28, 2020, in his home country. He self-isolated for 10 days, and then traveled to Taiwan on January 10, 2021. He provided a negative COVID-19 test report before boarding the flight to Taiwan. After arrival, he stayed at a group quarantine facility to undergo quarantine. He hasn’t developed any symptoms since arrival. He was tested for COVID-19 on January 21, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 23.
Case #884 is an American female student in her 20s. The American student entered Taiwan on January 1. She hasn’t experienced any symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period, she took a self-paid COVID-19 test on January 20. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 23.
