CECC confirms 89,389 more COVID-19 cases, including 89,352 domestic cases and 37 imported cases

On May 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 89,389 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 89,389 new cases, 89,352 are domestic and 37 are imported (30 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 76 deaths today.

Regarding the 89,352 new domestic cases, 42,711 are male and 46,607 are female, while the gender of the other 34 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 21,350 were reported in New Taipei City, 10,355 in Taoyuan City, 9,792 in Kaohsiung City, 9,766 in Taichung City, 9,085 in Taipei City, 5,904 in Tainan City, 3,520 in Changhua County, 2,933 in Pingtung County, 2,570 in Hsinchu County, 1,818 in Miaoli County, 1,799 in Hsinchu City, 1,768 in Keelung City, 1,746 in Yilan County, 1,558 in Hualien County, 1,432 in Yunlin County, 1,241 in Nantou County, 1,048 in Chiayi County, 711 in Taitung County, 557 in Chiayi City, 224 in Penghu County, 143 in Kinmen County, and 32 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 76 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 46 men and 30 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 37 new imported cases, 20 are male and 16 are female, while the gender of the other one is under investigation. They range in age from 10 to 69 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 18 and 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 10,570,121 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,016,807. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1,558,380 cases. Of the 1,558,380 confirmed cases, 12,668 are imported; 1,545,658 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1,554 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1,554 deaths, 1,539 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
