On August 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 25,901 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 25,901 new cases, 25,621 are domestic and 280 are imported. The CECC announced 40 deaths today.

Regarding the 25,621 new domestic cases, 11,493 are male and 14,115 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,539 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,167 in Taipei City, 2,976 in Taoyuan City, 2,952 in Taichung City, 2,076 in Kaohsiung City, 1,545 in Tainan City, 977 in Changhua County, 767 in Hsinchu County, 733 in Hsinchu City, 653 in Miaoli County, 620 in Pingtung County, 567 in Yilan County, 516 in Yunlin County, 509 in Hualien County, 440 in Keelung City, 396 in Nantou County, 371 in Chiayi County, 272 in Taitung County, 271 in Chiayi City, 132 in Penghu County, 119 in Kinmen County, and 23 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 40 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 22 men and 18 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 280 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 22 and August 26, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,989,094 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,786,388. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,194,850 cases. Of the 5,194,850 confirmed cases, 26,700 are imported; 5,168,096 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,813 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,813 deaths, 9,797 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
