CECC confirms 65 more COVID-19 cases, including 17 domestic cases and 48 imported cases


On January 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 65 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 65 cases, 17 are domestic and 48 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are eight men and nine women, aged between under five and 69 years old.

Regarding the 48 new imported cases, they are 28 men and 20 women, aged between under 10 and 59 years old. 37 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (28 cases), the Philippines (two cases), France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Canada, Denmark, and Germany; the countries where the remaining 11 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 2 and January 16, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,278,363 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,258,762. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 17,885 cases. Of the 17,885 confirmed cases, 3,122 are imported; 14,709 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 115 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
