On March 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and one new death (Case #935) in Taiwan. Those seven new cases arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia and the Philippines.

Those seven new cases are fishermen. Among them, two are Indonesian nationals (Case #962 and Case #963) while the other five are Philippine nationals (Cases #964-968). Their ages range between 20 and 49 years old, and they all traveled to Taiwan for work on February 19. The seven fishermen all arrived without symptoms. Before completing the quarantine period, they were tested for COVID-19 on March 4. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on March 6.

The CECC pointed out that the new death was Case #935, a Taiwanese man in his 30s. The Taiwanese man had diabetes and hypertension. He took an international air ambulance back to Taiwan from Myanmar on February 7. After arrival, he was admitted to an isolation ward to be treated. Because his health condition deteriorated on March 1, he passed away on March 5.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 177,227 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 174,887. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 967 cases. Of the 967 confirmed cases, 851 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 10 deaths, and 932 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 25 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
