CECC confirms 2 more imported cases; both cases arrive in Taiwan from the Philippines

On April 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The two new cases are an over 40-year-old male from Myanmar (Case #1103) and an over 40-year-old man from China (Case #1104). They are both sailors aboard the same vessel that arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines.

The vessel had traveled between Japan and the Philippines since January. Case #1103 boarded the ship in Japan in January, and experienced a fever, muscle pains, fatigue, and shortness of breath on April 22. Case #1104 boarded the vessel in Japan in March, and experienced a fever and a cough on April 23.

The ship docked in Taiwan on April 24. The health authority arranged for them to seek medical care and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on April 26 (Case #1103 had a CT value of 25; Case #1104 had a CT value of 18).
