CECC confirms 44 more COVID-19 cases, including four domestic cases and 40 imported cases


On March 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 44 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 44 new cases, four are domestic and 40 are imported (25 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are three men and one woman, aged between under ten and 49 years.

Regarding the 40 new imported cases, they are 23 men and 17 women, aged between under 10 and 79 years. Of the cases, 12 arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines, six from the US, three from Hong Kong, two from Indonesia, and one each from Thailand, the UAE, Spain, Czech Republic, Singapore, Japan, Belgium and Switzerland; the areas the remaining nine cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 5 and February 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,328,352 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,307,492. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,533 cases. Of the 20,533 confirmed cases, 5,040 are imported; 15,439 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
