CECC confirms 76,986 more COVID-19 cases, including 76,967 domestic cases and 19 imported cases

On June 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 76,986 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 76,986 new cases, 76,967 are domestic and 19 are imported. The CECC announced 144 deaths today.

Regarding the 76,967 new domestic cases, 36,441 are male and 40,500 are female, while the gender of the other 26 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 12,910 were reported in New Taipei City, 10,707 in Taichung City, 10,530 in Kaohsiung City, 7,854 in Taoyuan City, 6,237 in Taipei City, 6,144 in Tainan City, 4,541 in Changhua County, 2,773 in Pingtung County, 2,282 in Hsinchu County, 1,633 in Miaoli County, 1,585 in Hsinchu City, 1,426 in Yilan County, 1,410 in Yunlin County, 1,320 in Nantou County, 1,218 in Hualien County, 1,190 in Keelung City, 1,168 in Chiayi County, 897 in Taitung County, 756 in Chiayi City, 216 in Penghu County, 145 in Kinmen County, and 25 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 144 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 93 men and 51 women ranging in age from under 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 19 new imported cases, they are 15 men and four women ranging in age from 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, one each arrived from New Zealand and the US, while the areas the remaining 17 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 31 and June 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,366,748 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,171,464. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,198,161 cases. Of the 2,198,161 confirmed cases, 13,051 are imported; 2,185,056 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 2,521 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 2,521 deaths, 2,506 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
