CECC confirms 34,827 more COVID-19 cases, including 34,748 domestic cases and 79 imported cases

On July 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 34,827 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 34,827 new cases, 34,748 are domestic and 79 are imported. The CECC announced 96 deaths today.

Regarding the 34,748 new domestic cases, 16,319 are male and 18,421 are female, while the gender of the other 8 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 4,952 were reported in Taichung City, 4,738 in New Taipei City, 4,397 in Kaohsiung City, 3,467 in Taoyuan City, 3,001 in Tainan City, 2,652 in Taipei City, 2,234 in Changhua County, 1,377 in Pingtung County, 1,036 in Yunlin County, 889 in Miaoli County, 868 in Hsinchu County, 754 in Chiayi County, 735 in Hsinchu City, 726 in Nantou County, 672 in Yilan County, 602 in Hualien County, 459 in Chiayi City, 445 in Taitung County, 379 in Keelung City, 183 in Penghu County, 158 in Kinmen County, and 24 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 96 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 61 men and 35 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 79 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between June 12 and July 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 13,524,061 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,681,626. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 3,837,856 cases. Of the 3,837,856 confirmed cases, 14,799 are imported; 3,823,003 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 6,868 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 6,868 deaths, 6,853 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
