CECC confirms 57,216 more COVID-19 cases, including 57,188 domestic cases and 28 imported cases

On May 11, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 57,216 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 57,216 new cases, 57,188 are domestic and 28 are imported (24 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced eight deaths today.

Regarding the 57,188 new domestic cases, 27,776 are male and 29,373 are female, while the gender of the other 39 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 19,620 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,751 in Taoyuan City, 8,265 in Taipei City, 3,356 in Taichung City, 3,153 in Kaohsiung City, 2,073 in Tainan City, 1,825 in Keelung City, 1,444 in Hsinchu County, 1,222 in Pingtung County, 1,018 in Hualien County, 996 in Hsinchu City, 979 in Yilan County, 934 in Changhua County, 650 in Miaoli County, 476 in Yunlin County, 358 in Nantou County, 357 in Taitung County, 313 in Chiayi County, 205 in Chiayi City, 117 in Penghu County, 59 in Kinmen County, and 17 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the eight deaths announced today, they were two men and six women ranging in age from 60 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 28 new imported cases, they are 15 men and 13 women ranging in age from under 10 to 59 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 3 and May 10, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 9,191,841 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,684,461. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 505,455 cases. Of the 505,455 confirmed cases, 11,991 are imported; 493,410 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 951 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 951 deaths, 936 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
