CECC confirms 280 more COVID-19 cases, including 183 domestic cases and 97 imported cases


On April 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 280 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 280 new cases, 183 are domestic and 97 are imported (63 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 183 new domestic cases, they are 98 men and 85 women ranging in age from under five to 89 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 31 and April 2, while 90 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 71 were reported in New Taipei City, 39 in Keelung City, 22 in Taoyuan City, 19 in Taipei City, 15 in Hsinchu County, seven in Yilan County, three each in Taichung City, and Pingtung County, and one each in Hsinchu City, Kinmen County, Kaohsiung City, and Hualien County.

Regarding the 97 new imported cases, 52 are male and 43 are female while the gender of the other two cases is being investigated. They are between the ages of under 10 and 69. Of the cases, 20 arrived from Vietnam, three each from Mauritius and the Philippines, and one each from Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, the US, and Cambodia; the areas the remaining 63 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 23 and April 2, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,098,620 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,074,017. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 24,312 cases. Of the 24,312 confirmed cases, 7,942 are imported; 16,316 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 137 cases (one newly added) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
