On August 31, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced four new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the four new cases, three are domestic and the other one is imported. The CECC reported one death today.

The CECC pointed out that of the three domestic cases (they didn't test positive while they were in home isolation or completed the isolation period), two are male and the other one is female, aged between 30 to 69 years old. One of the cases began to suffer the onset of symptoms on August 16, while the other two suffered the onset of symptoms on August 30, 2021. Of those domestic cases, two cases were reported in New Taipei City and one case was reported in Taipei City.

Regarding the one death announced today, the case (Case #16093) was an over 60-year-old Taiwanese male.

Regarding the new imported case, Case #16105 is a British male in his 30s. He traveled to Taiwan for work on August 17, and was tested for COVID-19 on August 30 before the end of his quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 31.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,677,839 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,660,833. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,995 cases. Of the 15,995 confirmed cases, 1,414 are imported; 14,528 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 835 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 835 deaths, 825 are from domestic cases and the other 10 are from imported cases.
