CECC confirms 1 more COVID-19 case; male cadet on board Panshi ship confirmed to have COVID-19

On April 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. A total of 429 cases have been confirmed in Taiwan as of writing. The new confirmed case is an over 20-year-old male cadet aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship. The case was placed under isolation for COVID-19 testing at a group quarantine site on April 18 and tested negative for COVID-19. The case was given a second test on April 24 after he tested positive for antibodies to the coronavirus. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case at 1:30 pm on April 25. An investigation into related details is underway.

The CECC reported that 31 Navy members from the cluster infection on the ship have been confirmed to have COVID-19. Health agencies have identified 1,865 individuals as contacts of these confirmed cases. Among 1,865 contacts, 534 are undergoing home isolation. 173 of the contacts have been tested for COVID-19, and 154 tested negative for COVID-19 with the remainder awaiting test results. Furthermore, 1,331 of the contacts identified are conducting self-health management.
