CECC confirms 18,003 more COVID-19 cases, including 17,549 domestic cases and 454 imported cases

On July 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 18,003 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 18,003 new cases, 17,549 are domestic and 454 are imported. The CECC announced 48 deaths today.

Regarding the 17,549 new domestic cases, 8,283 are male and 9,263 are female, while the gender of the other three cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,975 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,236 in Taichung City, 1,903 in Taoyuan City, 1,883 in Kaohsiung City, 1,613 in Taipei City, 1,327 in Tainan City, 883 in Changhua County, 543 in Hsinchu County, 518 in Pingtung County, 481 in Miaoli County, 467 in Yunlin County, 409 in Yilan County, 400 in Hsinchu City, 345 in Chiayi County, 344 in Nantou County, 304 in Hualien County, 235 in Keelung City, 231 in Chiayi City, 214 in Taitung County, 109 in Kinmen County, 105 in Penghu County, and 24 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 48 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 24 men and 24 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 454 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 14 and 16, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,262,510 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,972,996. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,282,777 cases. Of the 4,282,777 confirmed cases, 16,768 are imported; 4,265,955 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 8,224 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 8,224 deaths, 8,209 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
