CECC confirms 65,011 more COVID-19 cases, including 64,972 domestic cases and 39 imported cases

On May 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 65,011 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 65,011 new cases, 64,972 are domestic and 39 are imported (34 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 41 deaths today

Regarding the 64,972 new domestic cases, 30,657 are male and 34,292 are female, while the gender of the other 23 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 22,483 were reported in New Taipei City, 11,613 in Taipei City, 9,434 in Taoyuan City, 3,708 in Taichung City, 3,664 in Kaohsiung City, 2,357 in Tainan City, 2,036 in Keelung City, 1,626 in Hsinchu County, 1,425 in Yilan County, 1,169 in Changhua County, 1,154 in Pingtung County, 1,008 in Hualien County, 742 in Miaoli County, 580 in Yunlin County, 579 in Hsinchu City, 348 in Taitung County, 317 in Nantou County, 314 in Chiayi County, 228 in Chiayi City, 104 in Penghu County, 65 in Kinmen County, and 18 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 41 deaths announced today, they were 18 men and 23 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 39 new imported cases, they were 18 men and 21 women ranging in age from under 5 to 69 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 11 and 12, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 9,374,088 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,739,409. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 635,870 cases. Of the 635,870 confirmed cases, 12,092 are imported; 623,724 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1009 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1009 deaths, 994 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
