On February 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 53 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 53 cases, 16 are domestic and 37 are imported (25 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are six men and ten women, aged between under 10 and 89 years.

Regarding the 37 new imported cases, 21 are male and 15 are female while the gender of the other one case is being investigated. They are between under ten and 89 years old. 17 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (six cases), France (two cases), Singapore (two cases), Canada, Honduras, Malaysia, the UAE, Cambodia, Japan, and Croatia; the areas where the remaining 20 cases arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 18 and February 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,694,746 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,675,621. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,903 cases. Of the 18,903 confirmed cases, 3,752 are imported; 15,097 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 127 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
