CECC confirms 50,657 more COVID-19 cases, including 50,643 domestic cases and 14 imported cases

On June 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 50,657 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 50,657 new cases, 50,643 are domestic and 14 are imported. The CECC announced 163 deaths today.

Regarding the 50,643 new domestic cases, 23,945 are male and 26,684 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 7,734 were reported in Taichung City, 7,250 in Kaohsiung City, 5,772 in New Taipei City, 4,846 in Tainan City, 4,454 in Taoyuan City, 4,384 in Changhua County, 3,331 in Taipei City, 2,190 in Pingtung County, 1,300 in Nantou County, 1,211 in Hsinchu County, 1,136 in Miaoli County, 1,124 in Yunlin County, 1,061 in Chiayi County, 1,016 in Hsinchu City, 940 in Yilan County, 664 in Hualien County, 663 in Keelung City, 647 in Chiayi City, 579 in Taitung County, 195 in Penghu County, 117 in Kinmen County, and 26 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 163 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 91 men and 72 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 14 new imported cases, they were seven men and seven women ranging in age from under 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, one arrived from the US, and the areas the remaining 13 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between June 10 and 11, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 12,237,337 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,342,699. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,892,263 cases. Of the 2,892,263 confirmed cases, 13,436 are imported; 2,878,773 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 4,171 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 4,171 deaths, 4,156 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
