On April 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan, with four cases being passengers aboard the Coral Princess cruise ship. A total of 393 cases have been confirmed in Taiwan as of writing. Cases #389-392, with three other relatives, boarded the Coral Princess cruise ship in Chile on March 5. The cruise ship remained at sea for several days and docked at the Port of Miami, Florida, United States on April 4. After arriving in the United Kingdom on a charter plane arranged by the cruise ship company, the seven Taiwanese passengers returned to Taiwan on a flight operated by a Taiwanese airline company. The CECC and relevant agencies imposed related quarantine measures on the passengers, including conducting COVID-19 testing on symptomatic and asymptomatic passengers upon entry and placing the passengers under group quarantine for 14 days. Four of the seven Taiwanese passengers tested positive for COVID-19 and are hospitalized in isolation while the other three tested negative for COVID-19 and are under group quarantine.  

Case #393 had worked in the United States for a long time and arrived in Taiwan on April 11. The case was sent to the hospital for medical care and COVID-19 testing as the case showed symptoms upon entry. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 13.
