On June 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 52,246 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 52,246 new cases, 52,213 are domestic and 33 are imported. The CECC announced 171 deaths today.

Regarding the 52,213 new domestic cases, 24,760 are male and 27,429 are female, while the gender of the other 24 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 7,909 were reported in Taichung City, 6,992 in Kaohsiung City, 6,444 in New Taipei City, 4,841 in Tainan City, 4,680 in Taoyuan City, 3,873 in Changhua County, 3,516 in Taipei City, 2,403 in Pingtung County, 1,617 in Yunlin County, 1,283 in Hsinchu County, 1,226 in Miaoli County, 1,208 in Nantou County, 1,127 in Hsinchu City, 980 in Chiayi County, 980 in Yilan County, 782 in Chiayi City, 739 in Hualien County, 669 in Keelung City, 514 in Taitung County, 243 in Penghu County, 118 in Kinmen County, and 39 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 171 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 117 men and 54 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 33 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between June 20 and 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 12,953,613 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,511,036. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 3,439,279 cases. Of the 3,439,279 confirmed cases, 13,957 are imported; 3,425,268 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 5,651 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 5,651 deaths, 5,636 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
