CECC confirms 4 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the US and France


On February 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced four new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those four new cases (Case #930-933) arrived in Taiwan from the United States and France.

Case #930 is a Taiwanese woman in her 20s. She returned to Taiwan from the United States on December 22, 2020. She hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. Due to her plans to leave Taiwan, the Taiwanese woman visited the hospital to take a COVID-19 test. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 9, 2021. In addition, after undergoing an antibody test, she tested negative for IgM but positive for IgG antibodies; thus, it was concluded that this woman was more likely to be infected with COVID-19 in the United States.

Case #931 and Case #932 are a Taiwanese woman in her 60s and a Taiwanese woman in her 40s. Those two women are relatives. Before returning to Taiwan, they lived together in France. Those two women returned to Taiwan on January 28. Case #931 experienced coughing on January 29, and Case #932 began to experience a runny nose, diarrhea, and other symptoms on January 30. The health authority then arranged for them to be tested for COVID-19 on February 5. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 9.

Case #933 is a Taiwanese woman in her 50s. She returned to Taiwan from the United States on January 29. She experienced coughing and other symptoms on February 4. The health authority then arranged for her to be tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 9.
