CECC confirms 68,151 more COVID-19 cases, including 68,118 domestic cases and 33 imported cases

On June 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 68,151 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 68,151 new cases, 68,118 are domestic and 33 are imported. The CECC announced 152 deaths today.

Regarding the 68,118 new domestic cases, 32,043 are male and 36,053 are female, while the gender of the other 22 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 9,820 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,657 in Kaohsiung City, 9,511 in Taichung City, 6,926 in Taoyuan City, 5,631 in Tainan City, 5,228 in Taipei City, 4,475 in Changhua County, 2,737 in Pingtung County, 1,949 in Hsinchu County, 1,719 in Miaoli County, 1,551 in Hsinchu City, 1,407 in Yunlin County, 1,308 in Nantou County, 1,212 in Yilan County, 1,129 in Chiayi County, 1,024 in Keelung City, 1,019 in Hualien County, 738 in Chiayi City, 672 in Taitung County, 194 in Penghu County, 185 in Kinmen County, and 26 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 152 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 87 men and 65 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 33 new imported cases, they were 28 men and five women ranging in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, three arrived from the US, and one from Thailand; the areas the remaining 29 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between June 2 and 3, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,541,783 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,203,202. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,342,794 cases. Of the 2,342,794 confirmed cases, 13,131 are imported; 2,329,609 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 2,815 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 2,815 deaths, 2,800 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
