CECC confirms 88,293 more COVID-19 cases, including 88,247 domestic cases and 46 imported cases


On June 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 88,293 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 88,293 new cases, 88,247 are domestic and 46 are imported (31 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 122 deaths today.

Regarding the 88,247 new domestic cases, 42,365 are male and 45,861 are female, while the gender of the other 21 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 14,894 were reported in New Taipei City, 11,511 in Taichung City, 11,499 in Kaohsiung City, 9,568 in Taoyuan City, 7,634 in Tainan City, 7,480 in Taipei City, 4,852 in Changhua County, 3,177 in Pingtung County, 2,527 in Hsinchu County, 2,008 in Hsinchu City, 2,008 in Miaoli County, 1,852 in Yunlin County, 1,622 in Yilan County, 1,496 in Nantou County, 1,493 in Hualien County, 1,423 in Keelung City, 1,226 in Chiayi County, 902 in Taitung County, 677 in Chiayi City, 215 in Penghu County, 131 in Kinmen County, and 52 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 122 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 67 men and 55 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 46 new imported cases, they were 25 men and 21 women ranging in age from under 10 to above 90 years. Of the cases, two arrived from the US and one each from the Philippines and Spain. The areas the remaining 42 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 30 and 31, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,268,682 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,154,046. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,121,231 cases. Of the 2,121,231 confirmed cases, 13,034 are imported; 2,108,143 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 2,377 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 2,377 deaths, 2,362 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
