CECC confirms 6 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from Netherlands, Indonesia and Uzbekistan


On May 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those six new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Netherlands (Case #1139 and Case #1140), Indonesia (Cases #1141-1143), and Uzbekistan (Case #1144).

Case #1139 is an over 40-year-old male from the Netherlands. The Dutch man traveled to Taiwan to work as a sailor on April 10. Due to work requirements, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on May 1. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 3 (the CT value was 29; he had a CT value of 33 while hospitalized, and he tested positive for both IgM and IgG antibodies).

Case #1140 is an over 30-year-old male from the Netherlands. He traveled to Taiwan to work as a sailor on April 8. Due to work requirements, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on May 1. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 3 (the CT value was 33).

Cases #1141-1143 are three fishermen from Indonesia, and they are between 10 and 49 years old. Those three Indonesian fishermen traveled to Taiwan for work on April 19. They were tested on May 2, before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on May 3.

Case #1144 is a Taiwanese female in her 20s. She returned to Taiwan from Uzbekistan on April 27. She began to experience a headache, a fever, and nausea on April 28, and the health authority then arranged for her to seek medical attention and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 3 (the CT value was 28).
