On May 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 80,881 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 80,881 new cases, 80,835 are domestic and 46 are imported (28 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 127 deaths today.

Regarding the 80,835 new domestic cases, 38,139 are male and 42,641 are female, while the gender of the other 55 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 16,001 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,641 in Kaohsiung City, 9,031 in Taichung City, 8,999 in Taoyuan City, 7,998 in Taipei City, 6,666 in Tainan City, 3,597 in Changhua County, 2,648 in Pingtung County, 2,509 in Hsinchu County, 2,509 in Miaoli County, 1,870 in Yilan County, 1,759 in Hsinchu City, 1,466 in Yunlin County, 1,433 in Keelung City, 1,326 in Hualien County, 1,014 in Chiayi County, 997 in Nantou County, 774 in Taitung County, 585 in Chiayi City, 203 in Kinmen County, 200 in Penghu County, and 94 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 127 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 74 men and 53 women ranging in age from under 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 46 new imported cases, they were 28 men and 18 women ranging in age from under 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, four arrived from the US, and the areas the remaining 42 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 20 and 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 10,899,262 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,080,117. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1,815,703 cases. Of the 1,815,703 confirmed cases, 12,816 are imported; 1,802,833 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1,911 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1,911 deaths, 1,896 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
