CECC confirms 507 more COVID-19 cases, including 384 domestic cases and 123 imported cases


On April 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 507 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 507 new cases, 384 are domestic and 123 are imported (69 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 384 new domestic cases, they are 187 men and 197 women ranging in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between March 27 and April 8, while 185 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 146 were reported in New Taipei City, 58 in Kaohsiung City, 54 in Taipei City, 31 in Keelung City, 25 in Taoyuan City, 24 in Hualien County, nine in Hsinchu County, eight in Hsinchu City, seven in Pingtung County, five each in Yilan County and Tainan City, four each in Taichung City, three in Yunlin County, two in Miaoli County, and one each in Chiayi County, Changhua County, and Taitung County.

Regarding the 123 new imported cases, they are 67 men and 56 women ranging in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, 12 arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia, 11 from Vietnam, three from Singapore, two each from the UK, Korea, and France, and one each from Cambodia, Canada, the Philippines, the US, Hong Kong, and Palau; the areas the remaining 84 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 27 and April 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,269,750 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,243,042. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 26,263 cases. Of the 26,263 confirmed cases, 8,498 are imported; 17,711 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 139 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
