CECC confirms 64,041 more COVID-19 cases, including 63,964 domestic cases and 77 imported cases

On May 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 64,041 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 64,041 new cases, 63,964 are domestic and 77 are imported (63 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 40 deaths today.

Regarding the 63,964 new domestic cases, 30,451 are male and 33,488 are female, while the gender of the other 25 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 21,336 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,560 in Taipei City, 9,482 in Taoyuan City, 4,409 in Taichung City, 3,766 in Kaohsiung City, 2,627 in Tainan City, 2,004 in Keelung City, 1,757 in Yilan County, 1,661 in Hsinchu County, 1,234 in Hsinchu City, 1,128 in Changhua County, 1,107in Pingtung County, 913 in Hualien County, 649 in Miaoli County, 634 in Yunlin County, 426 in Taitung County, 414 in Nantou County, 398 in Chiayi County, 215 in Chiayi City, 112 in Kinmen County, 108 in Penghu County, and 15 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 40 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 16 men and 24 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 77 new imported cases, they were 41 men and 36 women ranging in age from under 10 to 99 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 12 and 13, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 9,464,191 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 8,765,184. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 699,824 cases. Of the 699,824 confirmed cases, 12,169 are imported; 687,601 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1,049 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1049 deaths, 1,034 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
