CECC confirms 2 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from India and Belgium


On April 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those two new cases arrived in Taiwan from India (Case #1088) and Belgium (Case #1089).

The CECC pointed out that Case #1088 is an over 30-year-old male from India. He traveled to Taiwan for work on April 6. Due to work requirement, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on April 21, upon completion of the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 23.

Case #1089 is an over 40-year-old man from Belgium. The Belgian man traveled to Taiwan for work on April 6. He experienced a headache, a sore throat, a runny nose, and an abnormal sense of smell and taste on April 20. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing the next day. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 23.
