CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from Canada, the US and Poland


On March 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases (Cases #957-959) arrived in Taiwan from Canada, the United States, and Poland.

The CECC pointed out that Case #957 is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. The Taiwanese man studied abroad in Canada for an extended period of time and traveled back to Taiwan on February 26. During his home quarantine period, he experienced an abnormal sense of smell and taste, a runny nose, and other symptoms on February 28. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and be tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 3.

Case #958 is a Taiwanese woman in her 50s. She returned to Taiwan from the United States on February 26. During her home quarantine period, she developed an itchy throat on March 1. The health authority arranged for her to seek medical attention and be tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 3.

Case #959 is a Polish man in his 50s. He traveled to Taiwan for work on February 18. During the home quarantine period, he experienced an abnormal sense of smell and taste on March 1. The health authority arranged for him to seek medical attention and be tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 3.
