On March 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) urged that individuals testing positive for COVID-19 and their close contacts to cooperate in undertaking self-initiated responsive measures.

If an individual has been confirmed to test positive for COVID-19, the individual should:
1. Recall and record the date of disease onset (the earliest date of symptom onset; if asymptomatic, the earliest date of the positive result). Record the persons he or she came into contact when either party didn't wear a mask from four days before the date of disease onset to the first day of isolation, and the time and location of such contact.
2. Record history of contact and activities, such as household members, persons he or she dined, gathered, participated in activities, worked or studied with, healthcare facilities he or she has been to, the means of transportation used, and persons who had a 15-minute or more exposure.
3. Voluntarily contact the health authority and provide his or her contact information to protect the health of his or her contacts and prevent the spread of the virus in a timely manner.

If a person is notified that he or she is a close contact of a confirmed case, the person should self-quarantine at home before receiving further instructions from the health authority. When awaiting further instructions, the person should observe hand hygiene and avoid coming into contact or sharing meals with his or her household members.
