ACIP experts recommend use of Moderna vaccine for children aged 6-11, booster dose for adolescents aged 12-17, and second booster dose for certain individuals

On April 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the Ministry of Health and Welfare held an expert meeting in the afternoon and issued its recommendations listed below.

A. Vaccination with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for children aged 6 to 11.
B. A booster dose is recommended for adolescents aged 12-17 who complete their primary series vaccination without serious adverse events. Such adolescents should get a booster shot five months after the last dose of their primary series vaccination.
C. A second booster dose is recommended for elderly people age 65 or older, residents of long-term care facilities, and individuals aged 18 or above who are immunocompromised or have a weakened immune system and in a stable condition. Individuals receiving a second booster dose are recommended to get it five months after their first booster shot.
