March 5, 2013--As of March 5, 2013, 1 case of enterovirus infection with severe complications has been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC in 2013; this case was caused by Coxsackie A6 (CA6) and aged below 2 years. (See Table 1) Fig.1 displays the geographical distribution of the case according to the residence. In 2012, there were 153 cases (including 2 deaths) of enterovirus infection with severe complications; among 153 confirmed cases there were 149 cases caused by EV71.

No case was newly confirmed in Week 9 (February 27 to March 5). (See Fig. 2)
