October 5, 2010--As of October 5, 2010, 16 cases of enterovirus infection with severe complications had been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC. Among these 16 confirmed cases, 15 had been discharged and 1 was in ICU. These confirmed cases were all under 10 years old (see Table 1(pdf file)). Nine cases were from the northern part of Taiwan, two were from the central and five were from the southern. (see Fig. 1(pdf file))

One case was confirmed in Week 39 (September 28 to October 5). She is a newborn infant from Taipei County. Her infection was caused by Coxsackie B1 virus and she is still in ICU. (see Fig. 2(pdf file))
