April 13, 2010--As of April 13, 2010, 3 cases of enterovirus infection with severe complications had been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC. These 3 confirmed cases had been discharged and were all under 5 years old (see Table 1(pdf file)). One case was from the northern part of Taiwan, and the others were from the southern. One case was newly confirmed in Week 14 (April 7 to April 13). The case was a 5-month baby from Kaohsiung County. Her infection was caused by EV71 and had been discharged. (see Fig. 2(pdf file))
