September 6, 2011--As of September 6, 2011, 7 cases of enterovirus infection with severe complications had been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC. These cases are aged below 10 years (See Table 1(pdf file)) and reside in the northern, central, eastern and southern areas of Taiwan. (See Fig. 1(pdf file))

Two cases were confirmed in Week 35 (August 31 to September 6). They are 2-year-old girl from Taitung County and 3-year-old boy from Changhua County. Their infections were caused by EV 71, the boy had been discharged and the 2-year-old girl was still in general hospital ward. (see Fig. 2(pdf file))
